La Fille Mal Gardée or The Badly Guarded Girl is one of the best loved comic ballets of all time. It is here presented in a Bay Ballet Academy production freely adapted and choreographed by Artistic Director, Maximo Califano. The unquestioned center of attention is Lise, the beautiful farm girl whom her widowed mother plans to marry to the eligible Alain despite Lise’s love for young farmer Colas. This is a colorful pastoral romp with pause for tender and lyrical moments and plentiful opportunities for the audience to have a good laugh.
